Frequently asked questions

1. What is the advantage of applying for a job with AB Crewing?

Many vessel crewing vacancies are never advertised publicly; they are notified to crewing agencies. To benefit from being considered for a position, register with us and we will review your qualifications and experience against any unadvertised shipping vacancies. We are exclusive manning agents and crew managers for most of our clients.

2. I am a fresh marine graduate looking for my first sailing job. Will you be able to find me a vacancy?

We help hundreds of new recruits find good onboard positions every year. In fact, our cadet training program is one of the best in the region. You are advised to send in your application and arrange an interview with one of our partners. We can help you in building your maritime career to the best of our knowledge and ability.

3. I am an experienced seafarer looking for a career change. Can AB Crewing help me?

Definitely. We encourage and develop talented maritime professionals for different avenues within the shipping industry, using their previous experience to their benefit. This advances a candidate’s personal and professional development. For instance, it is possible to cross over from technical to commercial jobs and you can let us know if you are keen to do so.

4. I am not currently looking for a sailing job, but I am interested if the ideal vacancy becomes available. Can I register my details with you accordingly?

Yes, certainly. This is the case for many talented professionals and we are happy to be of help by having a confidential discussion with you about what you are looking for. When an opportunity arises, we will consider you immediately before looking further.

5. I would not like to disclose my personal or professional data to a potential client without my consent.

As a matter of practice, we value your privacy. When you register with us, we send out your personal and professional details only when you wish us to do so. Integrity is one of our core values and we treat your details with utmost confidence within the constraints of our recruitment process.

6. I have found a new position and I am no longer searching for a job. How can I let you know?

Congratulations! AB Crewing consistently encourages maritime personnel to enhance their prospects and we are happy to hear from candidates who have found something they enjoy, even if it is not through our agency. Email us at office@abcrewing.com with details of whether you would like us to suspend you from our register temporarily.

7. Do I have to pay for your services?

No. We are a free service for seafarers. It does not cost anything for candidates to register their credentials with AB Crewing for possible employment or for employment with one of our client ship owners or managers.

8. How do I apply for a job vacancy advertised by AB Crewing?

Send in an application letter and CV by email to office@abcrewing.com. Alternatively, visit our How to Apply page on this website and follow the instructions for submitting your application.

9. Do you offer jobs outside shipping?

No, we are a specialist recruitment agency for jobs in the shipping industry. However, we do recruit personnel from various technical and commercial fields within shipping, including crewing, conversions, repair, shipbuilding, technical supervision and superintendence.

10. I have a suggestion on how AB Crewing can improve its services. Where should I post this to?
